The Japanese colonized Taiwan for only 50 years (1895-1945), and in terms oftime, it only surpassed Ming Dynasty. Because it spanned modern times and was thefirst colony of an Asian empire, language education policy has attracted specialattention from the academic circles. In the discussion, the researchers mostly focus onofficial propaganda or newspapers and magazines. There are many traditional Chinesepoems in Taiwan written about Mandarin or Japanese education. These poems from thepeople of the time are the first-hand materials to understand the development oflanguage education in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation period. From this, we canbetter understand the acceptance of Taiwanese poets for the implementation oflanguage education. This paper will focus on the traditional Chinese poems on Japaneseeducation, combined with the relevant Japanese official propaganda and newspapers asevidence, to analyze the description of the language policy or national languageeducation by the old and new poets at that time, and restore the true appearance of thelanguage policy at that time. |
