Meng Chuang's Ci remained unknown in Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty for three hundred years. Until the end of Ming Dynasty, Jin Mao engraved the Meng Chuang's Ci which was collected by his family, and in addition, owing to the large collection of Meng Chuang Ci by Gu Jin Ci Tong, it reappeared in the world. In early Qing Dynasty, the significant compilations of poetry which were dominated by the court, such as Yu Zhi Li Dai Shi Yu(Verses of Each Dynasty) and Qin Ding Ci Pu(Index to the imperial register of tzu prosody) excerpted a lot of of Meng Chuang Ci, which had significant impact on the classics and the careful proofreading of Meng Chuang's Ci. However, until the Catalogue Summary of Siku Quanshu, more complete commentary on Meng Chuang's Ci from the authority's stance was published besides the collection of materials. The commentary included four aspects: 1. Put forward questions regarding the procedure of publishing Meng Chuang Jia Yi Gao and Meng Chuang Bing Ding Gao, arguing the viewpoint of Jin Mao with presented evidence that the chronology was based on heavenly stems; 2. Assessing the personality of Meng Chuang, criticizing him for giving his poems to powerful ourtier, Sidao Jia, when he was aged; 3. Regarding the style of his poetry, it advocated that Wenying was a writer of Ci, which was akin to Shangying Li being a writer of poems; 4. As for the proofreading, reference resources were not mentioned. It actually followed the comments of Ci Luby Shu Wan on Meng Chuang's Ci. This study aimed at the comments of the Catalogue Summary of Siku Quanshu on Meng Chuang's Ci and explored its critical stance and argument as well as the impact of the acceptance of Meng Chuang's Ci. |
