The development of Yunlin Yanshe played an important role in the history of Chinese literature in Yunlin during the Japanese occupation era. The rich content of recently discovered poetry manuscript written by the early Ching Dynasty scholar Chiang Cao-ru and his son, who served as the first-term consultant to Yanshe, not only provides literature and historical materials supplementing the development of Yanshe, but also covers the developments during the Japanese Occupation era, as well as the modern society. Scholars associated with Chiang Ching-fu resided across Taiwan, and provided substantial details to the literature references of Taiwan. These materials are worth of further study by scholars of related fields. This paper is consisted of five sections. First is the introduction, which discusses the importance of Yanshe. Second is the brief description of newly discovered Chinese poetry of Yanshe. Third is the discussion of possible influences of the unearthed Taiwanese literatures. Fourth are the outlines of the manuscript drafts by Chiang Cao-ru and his son. Lastly is the conclusion, with the aim of saving Taiwanese literatures. This paper is limited to summarization, and the substantial analysis is yet to be explored and expounded in future studies. |
