‘Blue Star’, ‘Modernist’, and ‘Epoch’ poetry unions are three major forces driven the development of Modernist Poetry in Taiwan, and are the participants in Modernist Poetry Movement.
From 1956 to 1969, there were two events about the Modernist Poetry Movement which attempted to achieve reformation in thought and artistry from the May Fourth Movement on, by advocating Modernist Poetry. The former is the ‘Six major points of Modern School’declared by Ji Xuan; the latter is the experiment of Surrealism mode by ‘Epoch’ poetry union.
The three debates over the Modernist Poetry occurred between 1957 and 1960 had profound impact on the movement and development of Modernist Poetry, during which ‘Blue Star’ played a critical role. This paper analyzes the role that ‘Blue Star’ played in the debates to discuss its contribution and impact to the development of Modernist Poetry. |
