On the Taiwan species of Crotalaria

The genus Crotalaria known as the Rattle Box Legumes is comprised of about 300 species distributed everywhere throughout tropical and subtropical regions. The group in Taiwan includes many indigenous, naturalized, and cultivated species which are used as valuable green manures. This study is an attempt to summarize our knowledge of the species Of the genus Crotalaria on this island. The specimens studied are deposited in the Herbarium of Department of Botany, National Taiwan University (TAI) and the Herbarium of Taiwan Forest Research Institute (TAIF). 14 species of Crotalaria are treated in this paper; some are native and some introduced. A description of the genus, analytical key to species, species descriptions, habitat, flowering period, general distribution, and an illustration of each species is given.
