There is no comprehensive treatment on the Cornaceae of China. When Forbes and Hemsley enumerated the Chinese plants in 1888, no cornaceous plants were known from Yunnan (Journ. Linn. Soc. Boi. 23: 344-346. 1888). In 1909 Hemsley recorded, in connection with his discussion on Corun macrophylla Wall . and related species (Kew Bull. 1909 : 329-335), four species from Yunnan. Wangerin's monograph (Pflanzenr. 41 (IV. 229). 1910) of 1910 raised this to six species, one in Helwingia, one in Aucuba, and four in Comus. This number was further increased to nine by Rehder in 1916 (in Sargent, Pl. Wils. 2: 569-579. 1916), who enumerated one species of Torricellia, two of Helwingia, one of Aucuba, and five of Comus as occurring in Yunnan. |
