The present study was designed to investigate the applicability ofBandur's self-efficacy theory to develop a suitable scale to measure theself-efficacy for learning for junior high school students. The sample included419 male and 407 female students from 17 junior high schools. The Scale ofSelf-Efficacy for Learning (SSEL), containing 6 Likert 4-point subscales whichaccount for 52.5% explantory power of variance, was developed. Satisfactoryestimate of validity, internal consistency, and test-retest stability wereobtained. This investigation of the SSEL suggests that it may be a useful toolfor teaching and guidance in the junior high schools. |
