While ancient Chinese culture has profoundly influenced Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Vietnam, etc., the Chinese language also influenced the language systems of these areas. Among those Chinese loanwords in the Vietnamese, the Old Sino-Vietnamese was formed about 2000 years ago and was integrated into the Vietnamese lexicon. However, those words are generally considered pure Vietnamese by the general public. Scholar Wang Li, who is regarded as a pioneer in the study of Old Sino-Vietnamese, has already found about 113 examples of Old Sino-Vietnamese corpora. Later researchers discovered more corpora based on the foundation laid by Wang Li. These valuable corpora reflect the pronunciation of Old Chinese and Middle Chinese in different periods. While this paper is based on the research of these predecessors, it provides new findings by pointing out the corresponding relationship between Old Chinese, Middle Chinese, and Old Sino-Vietnamese. Therefore, these findings may also contribute to the study of Old Chinese. |
