針對新冠肺炎疫情，為了縮短新疫苗研發的時間，採用了緊急授權方式，讓符合安全要求且有足夠功效的疫苗能夠儘早提供民眾使用。接種初期疫苗數量不足，必須合理合情依照接種者身份安排順序。新冠肺炎疫苗採用了新技術製成的疫苗，特別在安全性監測方面，增加了主動監測的方式。因病毒不斷變異，疫苗的接種方式、種類和功效經檢討後，也滾動式調整。再來的接種建議仍會有所變動。

During the COVID-19 pandemic, to shorten the development time of new vaccines, the emergency authorization method was used. This facilitated immediate availability of new vaccines that met safety requirements with sufficient efficacy to be available for the public. When the supply of vaccines in the initial stage of vaccination were insufficient, the order of people to receive the vaccine had to be strategically arranged. New technologies were applied for COVID-19 vaccines, and as monitoring safety became more important the active monitoring software, Taiwan V–Watch, was created. Due to the continuous mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the vaccination method, vaccine content and efficacy are constantly reviewed and adjusted. The COVID-19 vaccination recommendations will be adjusted according to the new epidemic data.
