Generally speaking, the understanding of “game” usually focuses on activity as its main form. However, when the dynamic “game” meets the static style of literary works, the same nature could coexist in two fields with seemingly very different concepts. Children's picture books are such creative works that are closely related to “game activities” in essence. This paper will define “game-like” as a perspective into children's picture books and try to explore the game characteristics and game awareness in children's picture books. Also, this paper will analyze the structure of game-play in children's picture books as (1) imaginary (2) searching (3) storytelling (4) postmodern (5) practical (6) graphics/words co-constructed and so on, six of its own game characteristics. The display of these games is precisely the main reason why children's picture books are widely used in various fields such as education, treatment and communication. |
