The main purpose of this study was to examine the nature of the play therapist's passion in the play therapy process. This study was conducted using the quality research method. In-depth interviews were conducted to collect information regarding the context of the study. The subject of this study is regarding a play therapist who has worked in the play therapy field for over 12 years. The context of this study was analyzed through a “thematic analysis,” and the main findings were as follows: Four dimensions of the play therapist's passion were identified in the play therapy process. There were preceding factors, main concepts, disturbing factors, and affecting factors. The preceding factors included interest regarding play therapy, a positive counseling experience, personal traits, value, and enlightening by others. Moreover, the main concepts of passion included commitment and meaning of altruistic works. Furthermore, the disturbing factors were disappointed, misunderstood, and conflicted between the play therapist and surrounding people related to the child clients. The last factors were affecting factors such as the feeling, cognitive, and behavioral elements of passion. Discussions and suggestions were proposed based on these findings for future studies and implications. |
