Throughout the 1980s, only KUANG REN found that Li Zehou’s XI TI ZHONG YONG still held warmth and respect for tradition and was an incomplete full westernization. This posed a direct challenge and a real threat to Li Zehou. During the 1990s, due to the slow improvement of the material life of domestic intellectuals, the academic style of exiling reality and avoiding problems, and the drastic changes in the international environment of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe,“farewell to revolution theory”became the central issue at this time. Li Zehou and critics of“farewell to revolution theory”, due to the limitations of analytic philosophy, both faced certain truths but were unable to reconcile with each other. In the first decade of the new century, the academic world was characterized by the fading of scholars and the prominence of experts. Constrained by the fragmentation of the academic world, the lack of orientation, and the fragmentation of historical narratives, Li Zehou’s research at this time lacked central issues, leading to even further fragmentation. The academic community during the past ten years has been characterized by the prominence of the academic circle. Li Zehou proposed in 2010 that the debut of Chinese philosophy was the central event at this time. With the proposed concept of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics and the advancement of localized academic research in China, journals opened columns, held conferences, and promoted academic dialogue. Li Zehou has officially become an academic resource for Chinese scholars to summarize local experiences. |
