The ASEAN countries have been hit hard by COVID-19, one of the world's worst public health disasters. They have set out to curb the pandemic at home in the hope of restoring normal economic and international exchanges. This study examines the role of statism in the pandemic, analyzing attitudes towards COVID-19, public health and vaccine stances, as well as national control measures to understand the impact of statism on ASEAN countries in the control of as well as recovery from the epidemic. The intervention of government leadership was an important factor in the response to COVID-19, while statism influenced policy development and implementation. This study aims to provide useful insights into future responses to the epidemic to promote international coordination and global prosperity. |
