The advent of 3D printing is over 30 years. With increasing functionality of 3D printing technology, 3D printing is getting diversified in industrial manufacturing applications. So far, the research about color rendering and curing reproduction for different printed materials has still been limited. 3D color printing does help a 3D model effect look realistic. However, in existing research, there is a lack of comprehensive and objective verification of printed materials about its physical quality evaluations of printed surface. In this 3D color printing technology study, take the materials of ecofriendly and vivid gypsum powder and UV-curing resins as examples, design and print a set of test guides of printing physical quality; measure the physical quality attributes of the 3D color printing models, including resolution, gloss, abrasion resistance and weather resistance. According to these physical quality attributes from measured surface of printed materials, this research analyses and explores the correlation between their colored layers and curing agents of the different 3D color printed materials. After analysis, the conclusions of this study are as followings: (1) The printing physical quality attributes (resolution, gloss, abrasion resistance and weather resistance, etc.) of different 3D color printing materials’surface are significant impact after curing agent is coated and cured. (2) In pre-print design of 3D color printing, when a resolution is set 0.5mm or above, the image quality of the 3D color printing model will get the best performance. (3) A 3D color printing model gets a significant effect on value of gloss, abrasion resistance and weather resistance after it is being curing agent coated and cured. |
