This glossary concludes my report on the T'en or Yanghwang language, of which two parts have been published in this Bulletin. Entries in this glossary are arranged, more or less, according to the order of the Latin alphabet. The consonants are in the following order: ʔb-, ʔbj-, ʔd-, ʔdj-, f-, fj-, ɣ, j-, ʔj-, k-, kj-, kw-, kh-, khj-, khw-, l-, lj-, m-, mj-, n-, nj-, ŋ- , ŋj-, p -, pj-, ph-, phj-, s-, sj-, t-, tj-, ty-, th-, thj-, thy-, ts-, tsj-, tsh-, tshj- w-, wj-, x-, xj-, xw-, z-, zj-, zy-, ʔz., ʔzj-, and ʔ-. The vowels are in the normal order of a, e, i, o, u. Compounds and short phrases are given under the proper monosyllabic words or morphemes, and occasionally sentences are given or quoted from the texts to illustrate their usage. Because of the impossibility of checking the material with the informants, some inconsistencies are kept as such. It is hoped that, in spite of these imperfections, the data may be found useful for one of the fast disappearing languages of China. |
