英文摘要 |
Epilepsy is a chronic brain disease caused by abnormal physical activity caused by intermittent and irregular discharge of brain cells. The form of seizures varies according to the location and frequency of discharge. Uninterrupted seizure may lead to status epilepticus, which has a high mortality rate and cause permanent brain injury. Multiple studies have found that the modified Atkins diet (MAD) improves seizure frequency. By adding MAD as adjuvant therapy for patients with refractory epilepsy can reduce seizure frequency by >50%, and for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy for 12 weeks MAD diet therapy can reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures by >25%. Therefore, in addition to drug treatment, in clinical practice, doctors, nutritionists, nurses and other crossdisciplinary teams can promote the modified Atkins diet to reduce the incidence of epilepsy and improve the quality of life of patients. |
