As a special form of advertising in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, calendar posters are also one of the modern representative forms of art, which deeply arouse people’s affection and attention. With the women in calendar posters as key focus, this article conducts research on the belle-oriented calendar picture works. First of all, this article will discuss the art source and form evolution of the belle-oriented calendar posters, however, because it is relatively complex, this article chooses the painting of smoking ladies as the object of observation, and uses the minority to bring along the majority from the combination process of female images and tobacco commodities so as to define the historical predecessor of the calendar girls, and sort out the female image development in this process. Secondly, the author has found that in the existing calendar pictures, there are a large number of works with double woman figures as the subject. It is intended to specially focus on the double woman figures contained in the calendar art, and try to explore the development of the“twins-like”image and their inheritance of the traditional belle-oriented calendar posters from the picture contents, composition features and characterization, etc. through image analysis. Finally, it makes a brief analysis on the causes, the hidden metaphor, the concept of communication and the existence significant of the double woman figures phenomenon from the production, marketing and other aspects, and conducts a simple evaluation on such works of art. |
