In Taiwan, the development of Medical Humanities in medical education has experienced different critical moments and events, which still deeply influences the educators and researchers nowadays. Based on the interview of influential figures and examination of crucial documents, this paper attempts to describe three critical moments—reforming, spreading, and indigenizing—by focusing on three representative objects: White Paper on Medical Education (2003), Medical Educators for Humanities (MEH) project (2007- 2010), TMAC Accreditation Standards of a Medical School (2013). From the highly discussed 1990s to the open-ended present, these critical moments are worthy of remembering for the educators in the field of Medical Humanities. |
