本〈箋證〉係據宋李公煥《箋註》本為底本，首先說明陶公〈讀史述〉體例之淵源。進而：一、校釋較深之詞句。二、引證陶公所述之史實。三、貫通陶公之詩文相互印證。四、補充並修訂前賢及近人之注釋。

This ''annotation and commentary'' is based on the commentary (jianzhu) by Li Kung-huan of the Song. The paper begins with an explication of the origins of the style of T'ao's Expositions up the Reading of History. It proceeds to: 1) interpret the more obscure passages; 2) substantiate by reference to other sources the historical facts that T'ao describes; 3) find and demonstrate interconnections between T'ao's poetry and prose; and 4) supplement and correct both modern and earlier commentaries.
