苗栗縣三櫃坑遺址試掘報告

Report on the Test Excavation at the San-kui-k'eng Site Miao-li County

三櫃地區位於大安溪中游北側支流景山溪流域，行政區域屬於苗栗縣三義鄉鯉魚村、龍騰村及大湖鄉新開村的一小部分（圖一）。區域內的主要地形因素是景山溪，在本地區及其上游的一部分地區景山溪河床流路與地層走向直交，形成標準的橫谷，標高自200至220公尺之間，河床起伏較小，河道中常有較大較深的水域存在，呈現湖潭的氣氛，因此本地又名鯉魚潭。

This report is the first on archaeological surveys conducted within the project area of the Li-yu-t'an Dam. The region surveyed is located in the San-kui District, San-yi hisang, Miao-li County, in the vicinity of the proposed location of the Dam. Five localities yielding prehistoric remains were discovered, and three of these also contained Ch'ing Dynasty Ch'ing Hua procelain sherds. The localities have been designated San-kui-k'eng Sites A－E. Sites A and C were selected for test excavations. Eighteen test pits were excavated at locality A. The prehistoric levels yielded stone tools such as axes, hoes and knives; red and brown ware pottery sherds; and, a large quantity of lithic raw material and debitage associated with the manufacture of stone tools.
