十二世紀末漢語的西北方音（聲母部分）

番漢合時掌中珠為十二世紀末漢語西北方音最重要的資料。橋本萬太郎曾於一九六一年中國語學一○九期「掌中珠番漢對音研究方法」一文中指出，在研究宋代漢語西北方音上此書之所以未受到重靚，乃是由於西夏語音韻尚未有成系統的研究使然。

This paper attempts to reconstruct initial consonants of a Northwestern Chinese dialect at the encl of the 12th century on the basis of Chinese-Tangut transcriptions in the Chang-chung-chu (The Pearl in the Palm), a Chinese-Tangut vocabulary compiled by Ku-le Mao-ts'ai in 1190. Methodological problems involved in the reconstruction are briefly discussed in chapter II. Chapter III deals with individual initial consonants. Chapter IV summarizes the sound changes from Middle Chinese (600 A. D. ) to the dialect (12th cen. A. D.).
