Human rights is rooted in local culture and society as it is generated and developed out of indigenous knowledge, experience and values. The universal validity of human rights comes from local consensus via the transformation of thick to thin concepts and values. The effectiveness of human rights norms depends much on their reception and socialization in local population. Traditional Min-ben tradition and ideas, being one of the most important cultural heritage of China, carry unique Chinese understanding of human rights. Together with China’s contemporary human rights view, they contribute to an indigenous human rights conception and resource. |
