This article explores the meanings and communication models of the cultural diplomacy from the theoretical perspective of intercultural communication under the background of network society. The author also takes Taiwan’s Coronavirus Diplomacy during the COVID-19 pandemic as an example to reveal the various practices of cultural and media diplomacy. Taiwan’s Coronavirus Diplomacy demonstrated the diversity of the communication model in cultural diplomacy, on the other hand it exposed the deficiency of cultural and media diplomacy in influencing international politics. By introducing related models and concepts, hopefully modern technological and cultural trends could be grasped, and the new thinking and practices of diplomacy might appear. |
