Reflections and observations on the History of the Chinese Communist Party course at the Institute of East Asian Affairs of Chengchi University: Its organization, legacy, and influence

國立政治大學東亞研究所創建五十年以來，中共黨史是唯一長年賡續不斷的基礎課程，其甚至成為東亞所教學的一個重要特色；東亞所對此一課程的一貫重視，較諸國內和國外的中國研究系所和學程，也顯得特別突出。東亞所中共黨史課程的師資人員，在半世紀以來也歷經世代傳承並趨於學術性的變化。此一課程對台灣的中共歷史教學和研究，乃至更大的中國研究學界，皆具有實質而長遠的影響。這門傳統課程在當前也面臨了如何保持活力和創新的挑戰。

History of the Chinese Communist Party is the only foundational course to be held continuously in the fifty years since the founding of the Graduate Institute of East Asian Studies at National Chengchi University. Having enjoyed the institute’s unbroken support, it is prominent among courses and institutes of China Studies both at home and abroad. Teaching staff of the course have both inherited the legacy of their forebears and kept in step with a gradual shift toward academic research. The course is having a concrete and far-reaching impact on studies of the Chinese Communist Party in Taiwan and on China studies in general. At the same time, this traditional course is also currently facing the challenge of how to constantly innovate and revitalize.
