Understanding the nature of Kim-Jong-un's rule and North Korea's very existence in the perspective of regional security requires taking a more comprehensive angle on some aspects of the general security configuration in Northeast Asia. Combining this analysis with the goals set by North Korea may help address the question of whether and to what extent Kim Jong-un, a leader who personifies the North Korean state, is capable of or inclined to impose his own vision of regional order or whether he is driven solely by the intention of maintaining the existing status quo and acknowledging the existence of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) as a part of the current framework. |
