Poland is highly interested in the scope of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and in its potential effects. The perspective of creating a comprehensive free trade area poses for Poland new challenges, but also rises some fears and doubts concerning economic, political and social implications it may cause. The paper points out some expectations and troublesome issues valid for Poland in the context of the on-going TTIP trade talks. To this aim the position of the Polish government towards the contentious issues in negotiations and Poland's tariff sensitivity in the TTIP talks were discussed. The analysis of the patterns of trade and investment in Poland-US bilateral relations served as a background for understanding the falling significance of the United States in Poland's trade and investment, noted during the decade of Poland's membership in the European Union. Apart from quantitative changes in the character of bilateral economic relations, some qualitative changes were also pinpointed. |
