NGOs transnational advocacy activities are emerging as one of the major topics in international relations research, of which sociology and political science approaches need to be integrated. Anti-neoliberal economic globalization movements are efforts by clusters of NGOs and grassroots activists, which are relatively marginalized actors in transnational politics, to promote some of social or political changes. Activists promoting different goals from neoliberalism face different political opportunities in international and national decision-making arenas, and these factors influence the strategic actions they make. Beyond state and market, this paper attempts to explore the role of NGOs in constructing global economic agenda so as to explain how NGOs advocate global social justice. |
