According to the Electricity Act enacted in 1965, Taiwan Power Company provided vertical monopoly business from electric power generation, transmission and distribution, and sales. In 1995 the Taiwan government opened the application for private independent power plants, breaking the original monopoly in power generation. In January 2017, the amendment to the Electricity Law was passed, and electricity structure was once again deconstructed and rebuilt, giving priority to private green electricity companies to join the power generation and electricity sales market. The deconstruction and reorganization of electricity industry is an excellent example of using the structure-behavior-performance approach to explore how the global trend of climate change and sustainable development goals affect the government's energy policies and related industries. Using the industry case study, one can analyze the possible impact on the original industrial structure and the strategies adopted by enterprises from the perspective of global trends and changes in government policies. At the same time, it comes up with a set of possible green energy business models. The applicable fields of this case study include such as sustainable development, industrial analysis, circular economy, green energy development, and business model application. |
