From 1939 to 1941, the New China Art Troupe made a visit to Malaya, which was the first person-to-people diplomacy attempt of the Communist Party in Malaya. For this visit, this troupe has made a lot of self-adjustment in the early stage and earnestly implemented the publicity requirements of Public and legal left-wing politics put forward by the Communist Party. Furthermore, the This troupe gained the trust of the Kuomintang Party’s New Guangxi Clique, allowing Malaya to be visited without being supervised by the Nationalist government. During the visit, due to the difference between the New China Art Troupe and the Malayan Communist Party in their goals and judgments towards Britain and Japan, the visit and the relationship between the two parties have been adversely affected. In Malaya, the New China Art Troupe established relations with Malayan Chinese, overseas Chinese leader, Chinese artists and South-coming Intellectual, and obtained fundraising. The visit was successful due to the British government’s limited authority over the New China Art Troupe and the troupe’s strategic publicity. |
