太魯閣族人的織布：時間中的工藝與工藝中的時間

Weaving of Truku People: Exploring Crafts in Time and Time in Crafts

當代臺灣原住民族人積極與文化傳統連結，流傳久遠的工藝注入新生代的思想。本文探究當代太魯閣族織布者的思想與行動，以理解當代工藝學習與復振的過程中族人如何想像過去、看待重製與創造之間的關係，以及文化復振時代文化的狀態與內涵。本文主張，在織布者的所思所為中，兩種狀態並存，他們從與過去的關係中來定位自己，也重新想像過去。分屬不同世代、織布時間長短不同、擁有不同的織布學習路徑與經驗的織者，看待織布的想法殊異中偶有一致。從織布得以看見工藝中的時間，一塊布面同時涵蓋不同的時間與狀態，舊與新、過去與現在，在織機中對話、在布面上流動。從織布也看見時間中的工藝，在任何一個時間點，過去和當下的織布知識和技藝時而延續、時而躍出。當代織者看似以和前人一樣的工具和方式織布，其實不然。看似與過去連續、甚至宛如重回過去，其實已有所改變。部落裡並非追求嚴謹的重製，以過去為師並不只是重製，創造已在其中。然而，織者也曾驚覺，原以為自己在追求創新，後來卻赫然發現前人早已如此做過，今昔織布竟有如此不謀而合的相似性。另一方面，在改變之中，織者仍然心繫過去的美好價值，想要找回並繼續。本文呈現當代太魯閣族織者與織布所具有的多樣性。

Indigenous people enthusiastically reconnect with their cultural tradition in contemporary Taiwan. Thoughts and efforts of the younger generation are integrated into crafts. This article explores the thoughts and practices of Truku weavers, including the way in which they imagine the past, the relationship between reproduction and improvisation, and the meaning of culture under revitalization. It is argued that weavers identify themselves by their relation with the past. However, they also reimagine the past, and change is not unacceptable. Thus, we can feel the flow of time on crafts, and we can see the flow of crafts through time. In the end, the diversity of Truku weaving is observed and described.
