Based on Spranger’s value theory, this study attempts:\r(1)To find out the divergent value system of high school student by analyzing their family background, area, and sex difference.(2) To explore the relationship between students’ value systems and their selection on college academic field.(3) To generalize some recommendations from the study for high school teachers as teaching guidance.Subjects are 535 high school students selected from urban and rural high schools, including 321 boy students and 214 girls students.The instruments used in this study are:(1)The Social Interest Survey Questionnaire, edited and revised by Dr. Huang Chien─how.(2) High School Students’ College Academic Field Selection Questionnaire, devised by the researcher.The major findings are as follows:(1)high school student’s value systems tend to be more pragmatical than theoretical in economical, political and social value.(2)There are no distinctive correlations between the students’ value systems and their socioeconomic─status.(3)Area difference does distinguish the urban students’ value systems in the political value, from the rural ones in economical and social value.(4)Sex difference also distinctively related to the value systems of boy and girl students.(5)The conclusion reveals that there is high correlation between high school students’ value systems and their selection on college academic field.In accordance with the findings above, the following recommendations are proposed.(1)The school authority is responsible to its students’ cultivation of value system.(2)School authority should build up an atmosphere to promote the mutual understanding, respect and communication between students and teachers, in value systems.(3)The school authority should strengthen the examination of students’ value system, meanwhile, provide much more guidance for students on their college academic field selection. |
