The United States and the Independence of the Philippines

我們首先介紹西班牙如何前來征服菲律賓，接著回顧西班牙殖民統治與反殖民抗爭，再來說明美西戰爭與菲律賓的併吞，同時檢視荷蘭、及德國的覬覦，進而觀察菲律賓獨立戰爭、以及美國的殖民統治，其次考察日本佔領菲律賓，最後以菲律賓獨立做結論。

We start with a brief introduction of how the Spanish had come to conquer the Philippines, and then look into how the Spanish East Indies were ruled and how the Filipinos had waged anticolonial resistance against the Spanish rule. We further examine how the United States had started the Spanish-American War and annexed the island while the Netherlands and Germany waiting on the sidelines. Before we come to Philippines’ Independence, we probe investigate the Philippine War of Independence, American colonialism, and Japanese occupation.
