This paper is a critical practice on the modes of rhetoric in Zang Di's poetry anthology Rider and Soymilk, discussing different aspects of Zang Di's poetic language and summarily touch upon concepts and sources of modern poetry criticism. A recommendation on the methodological approaches in modern poetry criticism is provided with aims at detailed and practical case analyses. Landmark poetic works should be selected for close reading, and interpretation should focus on the author's spiritual aspects. This approach believes that criticism on the modes of rhetoric can only reach a meaningful interpretative depth if it ventures beyond the analyzing technical details of poetry. It is essential to penetrate this surface and reach the level of the author's way of thought and expand to cultural revelations, thereby identifying the breadth and trajectory of poetics as a historical process. The findings of this research can serve as a reference for a critical praxis of modern poetry. |
