Yu Ying-shih has participated in the research on the relationship between scholars and businessmen with his works such as Religious Ethics and Merchant Spirit in Modern China, which has exerted a profound influence on the study of taxi business relationship in mainland China since the 1990s. In the past 30 years, mainland researchers have absorbed and developed Yu Ying-shih's achievements in such aspects as 'survival' theory, new 'four occupations' theory, merchants and Confucianism, and the causes and manifestations of 'the integration of scholars and business'. However, from the perspective of double 'self' and 'the other', it is not difficult to find that there are shortcomings in the communication between history and reality, and the connection between micro facts and macro structures in existing studies. This paper will discuss the relationship between Yu Ying-shih and the study of the relationship between scholars and businessmen, in order to explore the internal context of the development of this research field in the past 30 years, and forecast the development direction of this field in the future. |
