With the progress of Taiwan’s civil society and economic development, the “third sector,” representing civic power and a contributor to international development, has emerged in Taiwan. This research examines the case of the third sector in Taiwan to understand changes in social welfare and the nexus between localization and internationalization. The contextual approach was adopted to analyze the case of a 70-year-old Taiwanese social welfare organization, namely the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families. The ecological transformation model was used as the basis for a systematic review of the transition of the third sector toward international humanitarian aid and of the developmental work for social welfare in Taiwan. |
