Following the dramatic change of society and frequent catastrophes occurred in this world, university learners have the requirement to equip with a sound mind for adjusting themselves well under the uncertain situation. Spiritual education therefore plays a vital role in higher education practices. It supports an individual to face life challenge, and enhance the spiritual level of life. Moreover, the reality of the self and intrinsic wisdom is able be found through the process of spiritual inquiry. The aim of this study is to discuss learning substance and practical approaches of spiritual education for higher education. For this purpose, first, the significance of spirituality will be expressed. Second, spiritual learning has its specific domain. Its relations with life education and with holistic education will be clarified. Third, drawing from current research results, the possible learning outcomes and practical approaches of spiritual education will be manifested. In the end, the author proposes two points of improving spiritual development for university learners. Those are: finding the “deeper reality” by means of meditation, and being aware of the “primal being” through getting into the universal oneness. |
