The implementation of a construction project is a complex process of scheduling construction tasks. The progress in designing, collecting, and exchanging information between designer, contractor or design consultant and investor needs cooperation and a combination of actions, and is a result of continuous repetition, including iterations and reworks. Many scheduling techniques such as PERT, GANTT, and CPM allow the modeling of sequential and parallel relationships, but not complicated relationships (coupled or interdependent). Therefore, the Dependency Structure Matrix (DSM) has been researched, developed, and applied to help overcome the disadvantages of these traditional management tools. Besides, resources are constrained, which has a strong influence on the results and determines the feasibility of the progress and whether the progress is optimal or not. Resources are considered to meet the actual conditions, in accordance with the resource allocation of each company. This study develops an optimal model using the Dependency Structure Matrix and the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). It also compares the WOA to previous algorithms such as the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) and the Genetic Algorithm (GA), to verify the effectiveness of the WOA optimal model for complicated relationship. |
