Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting the axial skeleton, peripheral joints and extraarticular structures. Spinal fracture in AS can occur with even minor trauma resulting from spinal rigidity and osteoporosis. A vertebral injury, in which fracture line passes through the posterior arch, pedicle and vertebral body, is characterized as a Chance-type fracture. We present a case of a 48-year-old male with AS and double level Chance-type fractures involving the cervical and thoracic regions of the spine from a low-energy fall. |
