The career development of athletes is a topic that has been widely discussed for a long time. Recently, Europe and North America have gradually focused on the career development and career transition of athletes' dual career. Dual career (DC) is a good solution for balancing sport and other spheres of athletes' life and preparing them for the life after sport. At present, professional sports in Taiwan are not mature, and universities are often the peak or end of many student athletes. There is no professional or semi-professional block at the academic and vocational level of the Holistic Athletic Career Model (HACM). Graduating from university is the discontinuation in sport. From this, it can be seen that dual career issue is more important, but the current domestic research on dual career is not widespread. Therefore, this study reviews the literature related to dual career, and intends to provide the directions of future study on domestic related topics from the research trends and current status of foreign countries. In the future, we can use the Athletic Career Transition Model (ACTM) and the Holistic Athletic Career Model (HACM) to explore the development and transition of dual career, and we also can revise relevant sports career development theories and models suitable for Taiwan. Furthermore, we can also consider exploring the dual career of adult athletes. |
