唐君毅、新亞精神與現代教育

"Tang Junyi, New Asia Spirit and Modern Education"

唐君毅先生是新亞書院的創辦人之一，他對教育實有一明確的立場。循唐先生，教育的目標是做人，知識則是使人懂得做人的手段。作為一個健全的人，其在各方面均不當呈現分裂的狀態。換言之，一個健全的人應是道德和知識兼備、理論和行動合一，乃至現實和理想並重。新亞書院正是以上教育理念的一個實踐基地，而由新亞書院反映的相關精神即為「新亞精神」。新亞書院特重通識教育和書院制即為這些理念和精神的反映。本文旨在介紹唐先生的教育理念、新亞精神及其對當代教育的啟示。

"Tang Junyi is one of the founders of the New Asia College and it is apparent that he holds a clear position in education. As Tang argues, the aim of education is for self-cultivation and knowledge is a means to achieve this goal. An all-rounded person should not be divided into different parts whereas unions among morality and knowledge, theory and action, as well as reality and ideal need to be reached. New Asia College is a center for such an educational ideal and its spirit is called 'New Asia Spirit'. Such curriculums as the promotion of general education and college system are the demonstration of the related ideals and spirit. This essay is to introduce the educational thought of Tang Junyi, New Asia Spirit and their meaning to modern education."
