"This paper proposes an ontology of photographic images by conducting a critical historical review over the topic. Based on Hans-Georg Gadamer's Hermeneutics and Heidegger's Phenomenology, the paper integrates relevant materials from visual culture studies through the methodology trinity of ''History, Practice, and Theory''. The discussion in the paper does not involve digital images; the paper only focuses on analog static photographic images as Work of Art and their ontological and hermeneutical significance." |
