As the world trend changes, the concept of “soft power” emerges. It means value, education, service or culture can be used to represent how great a nation is. Also cultural rights has been considered as a part of citizenship nowadays. The authorities of Miaoli county has offered people opportunities to participate in cultural activities for free these years. It was a success. However, what people do or what they want in daily life is more important. This study focuses on the behaviors of cultural participation and cultural consumption of citizens in Miaoli county. The researcher uses quantative approach to analyze what the cultural participation and the cultural consumption in Miaoli county is like and this research is based on the theory of cultural citizenship. The result shows as follows: TV is the communication media that people use most. Modern arts activities attract more people than traditional arts activities. Most people think that food, festivals, and totems can be used to represent Hakka culture rather than Hakka language. People in Miaoli county still have to work on what to preserve Hakka culture , especially in Hakka language. It is also important for the government authorities to combine Hakka culture and cultural activities. |
