綜論三家台灣佛教史研究及其當代性：從張巡、Charles Jones到江燦騰的書寫策略與研究發展

Three Perspectives on the Study of Buddhism in Taiwan

本文擬針對台灣佛教史的研究及其當代性，展開從張珣研究員開始建構，中間歷經Charles．Jones博士的增補和再詮釋，然後由台灣佛教史學家江燦騰博士在其近作《台灣佛教史》一書中的總其成之狀況，進行一次系統性的評述和檢討。事實上，台灣佛教史的現代書寫，是一項長期且巨大的學術研究和多面向整合的艱難探索歷程，因此，縱使在當代已達高度成就的江燦騰博士的佛教新史書中，依然存在著不足和諸多可更拓展的相關課題。

This article discusses three publications on the study of Buddhism in Taiwan, they are Chapter on Buddhism, Revised General Gazetteer of Taiwan Province (1992) by Hsun Chang, Buddhism in Taiwan: Religion and the State 1660-1990 (1990) by Charles Jones, and Buddhism in Taiwan (2009) by Tsann-terng Jiang. Each of these three books represents different research outcome in different time. In this article major issues of Buddhism in Taiwan will be introduced and each author's different perspective and research method are also being analyzed.
