To date, Taiwan's garbage collection method consists of the Environmental Protection Agency of each city and county sending out trucks at certain hours to collect garbage along the streets or at designated locations. However, not all people can meet the garbage collection schedule. In addition, the existing collection method often result in problems such as people chasing the garbage truck along the road and falling down, or the equipment on the garbage truck compressing the garbage and spitting out residues that hurt people. Therefore, this study reflected on the characteristics of Taiwanese cities from the perspectives of infrastructure, smart city, and public-private collaboration and drafted three trial models, namely (1) distributing clamshell two-wheel trashcan, (2) establishing clamshell large trashcan at designated locations from the perspective of diversified goals of public facilities, and (3) establishing a smart city recycling system at public transit stations and public facilities. We hope that by adopting the perspective of urban governance, we can increase the overall urban environment quality and promote the public interest. |
