The purpose of the study is a qualitative analysis of turned objects used in traditional furniture. The approach uses field work to sort the turned objects into different types by the application of morphological analysis. Then computer-aided design software was used to draw image files to establish a complete database, in order to preserve Taiwan's traditional furniture culture. The results of the study showed that Taiwanese traditional furniture is divided into eight types according to the turned elements used. However, each turned element has its own basic shape. Finally, those turned elements can be classified into two categories: functional and ornamental. |
