The practical reuse of historical heritage often neglects its particularity of culture because society entrusts too much economic value to it. This study tries to clarify the core values of reuse both interms of theoretical considerations and by a case study of the Wisteria Tea House (紫藤廬). In addition to uncovering the performance and representation of the spirit of the location as its core value, we also expose the dilemmas between old or new, adding or cutting, obligation or benefit, human and artifactual in the practical process. Constant dialoguing with archaeology may be the real way to find its solution. |
