Cell phones are indispensable personal objects in modern life. Mobile devices are instrumental to smart health and treatments. Healthcare workers can acquire information of vital signs and patient condition and make medical decisions rapidly in emergent situation using mobile devices. However, numerous microorganisms are invisible in the medical environment. Their transmission may occur after direct or indirect contact between healthcare workers and their surroundings. These microorganisms move to the hands, body surface, or mobile devices, which are frequently used. If healthcare workers ignore hand hygiene and adequate cleansing of mobile devices, microbes can spread and cause hospital-associated infections in patients with immune deficiency. Good compliance with hand hygiene and regular cleaning of mobile devices are crucial for reducing the risk of transmission. |
