National Palace Museum (NPM) obtains nearly 700,000 world-class extensive art collections which are regarded as international cultural heritages. Ever since 2002, NPM has facilitated Taiwan Digital Archives Program, yet we have not digitized all to open on-line resources to the public after devoting for over a decade. Thus, Department of Rare Books and Historical Documents submitted the“Subordinate Program of Digitalizing Crucial Historical Documents in High Resolutions”to bid for the Executive Yuan’s Forwardlooking Infrastructure Development Program. Based upon the idea above, the department’s main goal was to digitize at least 100,000 pages per year which made the subordinate program spend the most budget as well as hire the biggest number of human resources among the museum. Starting from November 2017, we finally received the permission to build up a digital studio and a photography studio by bidding several times. To facilitate the digitization program, NPM has taken an important role in operation and management as the cultural heritage protection organization. This article can be considered as a case study for the other units’references for their future planning. |
