This paper focuses on the Western Buildings (Xiyanglou) featuring western-style fountains (Shuifa) constructed as the first, and only, large scale attempt to introduce western landscape- and architectural styles into a Chinese imperial garden. We adopt Xiyanglou as a research subject, describing the methodology of building a data chain based on site information, historical relics, drawings, photographs and archives. Moreover, standards of accuracy assessment for three-dimensional models are discussed and their relation to digital technology. |
