The purpose of the study was to investigate the communication performance for elementary and junior high school students with visual impairment. Inventory survey was used. One hundred and fifty students with visual impairment were recruited from different elementary and junior high schools. The data was analyzed by t-test, one-way ANOVA, and structural equation modeling. Results of the study were described as the followings: 1. Communication performances of students with visual impairment in elementary and junior high schools were significantly poorer than general students. 2. Communication performances of students with visual impairment in elementary and junior high school were different significantly among groups as the factors of gender, parental occupation, socioeconomic status and learning environments. 3. Communication performances of junior high school students were different significantly for those at varied degree of visual impairment as well as the application of assessitive technology. According to the results of this study, suggestions were raised for: The researcher could add different variables to the research frame, more participants from other areas, with different research tools, and add different research methods in the future study. |
